In 1994, by initiative of Mr. Alberto Vallarino, Valores del Istmo was born as a visionary project of social and community development that would set standards in the corporate volunteer movement and contributed to improving the quality of life of thousands of Panamanians in remote and impoverished regions around the country through numerous framed works on health, education, access and nutrition, among many others.

In 2007 the Fundación por un Mejor Panamá was established, with the aim, among others, to respond to the deficiencies of the most needed and to continue with the ambitious programs of social responsibility developed in the country by Valores del Istmo.

In a year of work and volunteer support in marginalized communities, Fundación por un Mejor Panamá has built training centers for youth and adults, reforestation, environmental support, gymnasiums, sports fields, kitchens, schools restorations, libraries, nursery schools and parishes nationwide. It also has built pedestrian bridges, schools have improved nutrition and early learning facilities, and delivered donations to victims in Curundu and Bocas del Toro.
