Natá de los Caballeros

Founded in 1,522, it is the oldest city on the Pacific Coast. From its origins date back to the XVI century and up to the beginning of the XVII, it was the largest Indian village in the Parita Gulf. Today the city of Nata conserves two religious edifications dating back to colonial times.

One of these edifications "The Apostle Matthew Lesser Basilica", is without a doubt the most significant historic work of religious colonial architecture that the the Spaniards bequeathed to the Panamanians. Founded in 1,522  it is the oldest church in the Pacific littoral.
